BARB Country of origin: the Barbay Coast of North Africa, which is now Morocco, Algeria, and Libya.

Ancestors of the breed: European Wild Stock. Primary uses: riding and improving other breeds.

Color: bay, black, brown, chestnut, or grey.

Height: matures to 14 - 15 hands.

Physique: long refined ram-like head with a broad straight face and muzzle, crested neck, flat shoulder, long back with low set tail, long fine legs.

Character: quick tempered, tough, and courageous.
