Country of origin: former U.S.S.R. Ancestors of the breed: Thoroughbred, Don, and Kazakh.

Primary uses: pleasure riding and steeple-chasing.

Color: either chestnut or bay with a gholden sheen.

Height: matures between 15.2 and 16 hands.

Physique: small head on a strong neck coming out of long sloping shoulders, a strong compact body, croup is long and rounded, low set tail, and fine hard legs.

Character: calm and intelligent, good natured.
