Primary uses: riding and ranch-work.

Color: dun with dark points and dorsal strip; sometimes roan, chestnut, or bay.

Height: 14 hands.

Physique: short, broad head, muscular neck, strong shoulders and broad chest, deep body, fine strong legs with small feet.

Character: tough and willing with great endurance.
