• This animal was developed in the Ozark hills in Arkansas and Missouri, America in the 19th century

• The distinguished charecteristic of this horse is the fox-trot gait - the horse walks with the front feet and trots with the hind feet

• This gait can be maintained over long distances and rough ground at a regular speed of 5mph

• The Missouri Fox Trotter stands at between 16 to 17 hands high

• The head is neat and intelligent with pointed, mobile ears

• The body is wide and deep chested with very strong shoulders

• The feet are excellent and the hind limbs are heavily built and muscular
