• This horse gained its name from the region of the Don river where it has been bred since 1700s

• The head is refined, with a hooked nose at times large nostrils and the neck is lean and straight

• The shoulders are quite straight and the chest is big and muscular with a long back

• The horse is either coloured chestnut, bay or grey

•Height: 15.1 - 16 hands high
