• The Sorraia lived in the plains between the rivers Sor and Raia in Portugal - hence the ponies name • For centuries, this pony was used by local cowboys and for light agricultural work • The head is heavy, with black-tipped ears set high on the head and high set eyes • The neck is long and the withers are well defined • These ponies stand between 12.2 and 13 hands high • The tail is usually black and is low set • The horse is grey-dun in colour
