Rainbow Ameiva Cnemidophorus Deppei

Rainbow ameivas are beautiful and active lizards. Humidity is very important to the health and well being of these unique lizards. Adult length is up to 10". All ameivas require ultraviolet lighting to maintain good health.

Feeding: Rainbow ameivas are insectivorous (they mainly eat insects). Insects should be dusted with a vitamin/calcium powder. Ameivas may also accept fruit as part of their diet. A shallow water bowl is necessary to keep these lizards in optimum health.

Housing: Individuals can be maintained in a 20 gallon terrarium. Ideal temperature for ameivas is between 80 and 85 degrees, with a basking lamp for warmer spots. A screen lid is essential for proper air exchange. An undertank heater should be placed on the same end of the tank as the basking lamp. Provide multiple climbing branches and a shelter for hiding. Misting the habitat occasionally will help maintain proper humidity levels.

The humidity should be kept at or near 65 percent. Substrate (Bedding): 2" to 3" inches of Repti-Bark and Bed-Beast is recommended for ameiva terrariums.
