Affenpinscher Height Can range in size from 9 - 11.5 inches. Average size dog is 10.25" and it is highly recommended that you choose a dog in the average size range. The dog should be as long as it is high giving it a square appearance. Weight Can range from 10 -12 pounds. Again a dog in the intermediate range should be sought. Head Rounded, dome forehead with bushy eyebrows and a short but not extremely short muzzle. Black nose and lips. Teeth must not protrude from mouths for show dogs. Color black, grey, black with grey shadings, red, wild boar, and black and tan. Coat stiff and wirey shaggy around face (giving monkey-like appearance) Other Info As with any of the toy breeds housebreaking is a challenge of wills, it is better trained using rewards than force due to strong stubborn terrier temperament. Ths breed may dominate household if not trained! As puppies may 'fly' off of furniture or out of arms and sustain injury - like breaking legs! Rarely yappy but will sound the alarm when needed. The Affenpinscher is often characterized as an active and loveable companion.
