As the Saintongeois were weakened from in-breeding. fresh blood was needed. this came by the Bleus de Gascogne This crossing did not give a Saintongeois but created a new breed. The Bleu-blood was to dominant. Another name for the Gascon Saintongeois is Chine de Virelade There are two types: the Grand Gascon-Saintongeois and the petit Gascon-Saintongeois The coat is white with black spots and brown markings above the eyes
