Cornish Rex

The Rex is named after the Rex rabbit, because like the rabbit, it has a curly coat. It is a very loving and lively, playful cat.

Cornish Rexes have long, thin legs that look really fragile. Looks can be deceiving, however - you'll realize how strong their delicate legs are when you see them jump! Their rounded rump is higher than their shoulders; their backs are arched.

Cornish Rexes have large, flared ears set high on the sides of their faces, which are long and narrow. They have large, wide eyes, and straight noses. Cornish Rexes have short, thin hair that's really quite thick, but silky. Their hair curls, waves or ripples, preferably all over their bodies. Their whiskers and eyebrows should curl too.

All colors and marking are accepted in the show ring. The most common are solids and bicolors. Some Cornish Rexes are pointed and are sometimes referred to as Si-Rexes. However, breeders don't like this term, since it implies that the cats are half-Siamese, which they're not. So, when you're around a breeder, refer to Siamese-colored Cornish Rexes as colorpoints or pointed Cornish Rexes.
