I really agree with bullylove, he looks very thin compaired to my cob, but looks fit compaired to my cob when I first got him. That horse needs to gain just a bit of weight, I mean he doesent look like a slim thoughbred, he is to thin for his age. I no british horses are more stokier but this is a picture of a fit horse but he is only 1 year old and is a New Forest Pony.

You Pippa funnel i don't thinkso! when horses get over the age of 18 they are much harder to keep condition on, when someone says the age of 20 (remember back then passports and supporting document were usually unavailavble unless purebred pedigree) this animal could be up to around 28 - 30. Try keeping condition on an animal of that age when it is regular work and remember very old horses do not build muscles as the cells behave in the same way as human ones do!

| I would find it hard to belive that you breed new forests as he is a new forest pony. I was saying about my other horse my welsh cob, because he was skin and bone when I got him skinnyer than that skinny horse in the picture at the top of this page. And at the bottom of my first add on this page says "but this is a picture of a fit horse but he is only 1 year old and is a new forest pony" It makes sense to me and if you read it properly you might understand to. |

| I would like to stop the arguing now, I say fit as in he is pure muscle not a mm of fat. I exercise him every day by walking and troting up the bridle path, 10 mins of lunging at walk, 20 mins of hill climbing and 15 mins of flat work, walking, troting, extended troting and collected cantering. I do this every day with him, I wouldent like to say Im fit but he keeps me healthy. Hes the kind of horse that if he doesent have work he goes mad. Oh and thanks for saying his cute. |

| forgot to say I do jumping with him once every two weeks aswell ( he absolutly loves jumping, its in his heart) and his 2 years old now. Oh and every time his with other horses, especially race horses, or the hunt is on he loves to race the others (he usually wins) |

| Oh no I dont hunt him, I ment when he sees it from the yard, he races the other horses in the fields. But yeah I jump him, I started by just letting him loose in the menage while I muck out his stable, and he would keep cantering round and jumping the jumps ( only 6 inches ) and he was 10 months old and 11hh, I was amazed by this, so when he turned 1, I lead him in the menage and he kept pulling towards the jumps, so I thought oh just for a laugh, heel probably see me jump and slam his breaks on, but no we both ran to the fence and jumped it together, since then just for some fun we go jumping every now and then and he can jump 3ft but I wont let him go over 2 ft. Every think I do is STRICKTLY IN-HAND, I DO NOT RIDE HIM AT ALL! I dont have any up to date pictures on the net at the moment, just gotta figure out how to put a picture on the net and there will be soon. |
